Pair of Late 19th Century Plaster Shell Wall Hangings

A striking pair of plaster wall hangings in the form of scallop shells, dating to the early 20th century. Their sculptural form captures the texture and movement of natural shells, finished in a soft chalky white. These pieces work beautifully as decorative wall accents, either displayed as a pair or individually and could be made into lights if desired. 

They display a beautiful, worn patina with expected wear consistent with age, which reflects their authenticity and history. Both pieces retain their original painted finish, showing light surface flaking, hairline surface cracks and areas of touch-up. The backs show areas of loss, but does not impact their structural integrity.
